Through the assistance of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDa), the Special Envoy for BIMP-EAGA, Pandikar Amin bin Mulia had a courtesy call with Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte together with local officials to discuss the enhancement of trade and investment opportunities between Sabah and Mindanao.

Mr. Pandikar Amin bin Mulia was appointed as the Special Envoy for BIMP-EAGA in 2021 and has served as state minister in various departments in the past. The Special Envoy said that he hopes to continue and foster good relations between Mindanao and BIMP-EAGA, to which Mayor Duterte reciprocated saying that he and the city government is willing to collaborate to help build more opportunities in less developed areas in Mindanao.

In Mindanao, the strong historical trade link concentrated between North Sulawesi, Indonesia and Sabah, Malaysia. The trade link also serves as the nerve center of barter trade in BIMP-EAGA, particularly in agriculture and aquaculture products.

The courtesy visit of Special Envoy Mr. Pandikar Amin bin Mulia was also attended by the Consul General of Malaysian Consulate to Davao, Nur Misuari Harun , BIMP-EAGA Business Council, Mr. Raymond Alfred, Officer to Special Envoy, Mr. Iskandar Zulkarnain Ramli, Research Officer to Special Envoy, Mr. Zakaria Barabag, Chief, International Relations Division (MinDA),Mr. Jonathan Miral, DMO II, IRD (MinDA)Ms. Eamarie Gilayo and Ms. Niña Yago , DMO I, IRD(MinDA), Ms. Annabelle Rosales-Gotera, DMO III, and Public Relations Office – Media Coverage (MinDA), Mr. Jimmy Musa, Chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee of International Relations, Hon. Augusto Javier G. Campos III and the Officer in Charge of the Davao City Investment Promotion Center, Ms. Arpil Marie C. Dayap.
