Established in 2007, the sister city agreement of Koror and Davao is dedicated in enhancing trading and tourism activities between their cities and improving the quality of medical services. 

Former Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Former Palau Governor Yositaka Adachi signed the sister city pact. 

With the help of this partnership, the people of Palau may seek health assistance in Davao through referrals and avail of the cheap medical services that the Davao Doctors’ Hospital can offer. 

Scheduled flights are available for Palauans to visit Davao City, should they need to avail of the medical services. 

Robert Teo, the assistant chief administrator of the Davao City Investment Promotion Center, stated that, “the flights opened up the cooperation between both cities and governments as well as trade and commerce.”

Tourism Facts

Blessed with blue waters and an archipelago, Koror is a good tourist destination as it provides people with unique spots such as the Jellyfish Lake, the Milky Way, and the Southern Lagoon. Moreover, Koror offers restaurants, hotel accommodations, and a few historical sites that one could also visit. Aside from these, the city is also the largest in Palau, filling two-thirds of the country’s population. Fishing and agriculture are the top industries in Koror. 


Among  the popular tourist destinations in Koror include the Jellyfish Lake and the Milky Way. The 12,000 year old Jellyfish Lake is a safe place for tourists to snorkel as these blooms do not contain any stingers to hunt down prey. Moreover, the Milky Way will surely mesmerize tourists with its white therapeutic mud.
