Indonesian Ambassador, Mayor Duterte eyes bringing back Davao-Manado flights

The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, His Excellency Agus Widjojo was in Davao City and met with Davao City Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte at the Davao City Investment and Promotion Center for a Courtesy Call last March 13, 2023.

In the meeting, Mayor Duterte hopes ‘to strengthen ties with Indonesia for partnership’ as it remains one of our most active ally for the longest time. During the ASEAN Tourism Forum in 2012, the renewal of direct flights between Davao and Manado in Indonesia was materialized.

Ambassador Widjojo remarked that the Consulate General offices in both Manila and Davao are working for the resumption of the said flight, recognizing the huge opportunity for trading and investment. Both the Mayor and the Indonesian ambassador re-affirmed the potential for economic exchange as well as tourism and various cooperations in the field of education.

Davao has existing sister city relations with Manado and Bitung, both in North Sulawesi, Indonesia since 1993 until the present.
