Delegates from Dalian City, People’s Republic of China headed by Asia Division Deputy Director Sun Lidi had a courtesy meeting with Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte at Matina Enclaves on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Accompanying Deputy Director Sun were Foreign Affairs Administration third-grade researcher Li Bao; translator Zhang Ruijun; Shi Peihe, and Tiancheng Xing. During the courtesy call, Consuls Shan Jin and Hong Ming from the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Davao were also present. Dalian was one of Davao’s international sister cities invited to participate in the City Government of Davao’s Sister Cities in Kadayawan event.
Dalian is a port city in the northeastern Liaoning province, People’s Republic of China. Its main industries include shipbuilding, machine equipment and electronics manufacturing, petrochemicals, and consumer goods. On September 26, 2023, the Davao City International Relations Board (DCIRB) approved the proposed sisterhood agreement between Davao City and Dalian City. Both cities will cooperate in the following fields: economy and trade, science and technology, culture and education, sports, and tourism.
