“We achieved a lot,”

These are the words of Chinese Ambassador H.E. Huang Xilian describing the collaborations and partnerships with the City of Davao during his courtesy visit to Mayor-Elect Sebastian Z. Duterte last June 18.

The Chinese Envoy was in Davao City last June 18-19 to attend the oath-taking of Vice President Sara Z. Duterte and to visit the city’s new mayor. Mayor-Elect Duterte also expressed his gratitude for China’s immense support to the city’s programs and projects.

Over the years China has been a strong supporter of Davao City’s development. It is evidently seen through its donations and contributions to the city from vaccines and vehicles to infrastructures, agriculture and high-tech products. The strong bilateral relations between China and the City of Davao can also be seen with its sister-cities, Jinjiang City and Nanning City.

Ambassador Huang said that he is hopeful for more projects to come, more exchanges of people, the return of Chinese tourists to the city, and more Chinese investors.

During the visit, the donation of 13 two-storey, 4-classroom buildings donated to 13 different schools in Davao City was also featured; to which Mayor-Elect Duterte is very grateful for.

The courtesy visit was also attended by Mr. Kan Shilai, Third Secretary, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to the Philippines, Mr. Young Weimin, Chief,Political Division, E, Ms. Wang Anqi, Political Attaché, Mr. Li Lin, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Cao Jianwei, Vice Consul, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China ,and Mr. Johnny Go, President of Mindanao Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China in the Philippines.
