Australian Embassy Economic Counsellor Simon Reid met with the Davao City Investment Promotion Center (DCIPC) to discuss the conduct of an online investment roadshow and the establishment of a possible sister city relationship between Davao and a couple of Australian cities.

The Davao City investment roadshow for Australian businesses is scheduled on the first half of 2023. It aims to encourage Australian investors to see Davao as the premiere destination for economic development, agribusiness, light manufacturing and infrastructure. Both parties re-affirmed the benefits and incentives of establishing business in Davao City and how competitive rates, incentives, modern transport system and facilities are worth considering.

Australia’s Ambassador to the Philippines, Ms. Hae Kyong Yu is expected to attend the said event together with delegates from the Australian embassy, Australian businesses and other parties.

Meanwhile, on the discussion on the establishment of sister city relationship, Darwin City in Australia’s northern territory and Perth are already on the agenda of the Davao City International Relations Board for possible sister city relationship with Davao.

Australia and the Philippines celebrated 75 years of diplomatic ties in 2021, banking on strong people-to-people links through trade, investment, cultural exchange, education, tourism and migration.
