Jinjiang Senior Adviser’s visit marks deeper Davao-Jinjiang cooperation

Senior Adviser of the Jinjiang Municipal Government Mr. Zhang Wenxian had a courtesy visit with Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte on February 28, 2023, further strengthening the relationship between Davao City and Jinjiang City.

Jinjiang’s 38-man delegation was composed of government officials and high-ranking business executives. Among the companies present are Anta and Panpan, which expressed interest in doing business in Davao City.

In his message, Mayor Duterte expressed his appreciation of the visit of the Jinjiang delegation, and that Davao City is open to any activity that will benefit the people of Davao. He also added that during his visit to Jinjiang in 2019, he envisioned having companies like Anta and Panpan do business in Davao to open employment opportunities in Davao.

He also said that the local government does its best to provide a conducive business environment for all businesses and make doing business easier and more convenient.

Mr. Zhang Wenxian in response said that he brought these businesses to Davao City to get acquainted with Davao and eventually consider doing business here.

In his welcome message, Coun. Javi Campos of the Davao City Council Committee on International Relations says that the visit of Mr. Zhang Wenxian is a manifestation of the strengthening of the sister city relationship between Davao and Jinjiang and hopes that this will open more opportunities for partnerships and collaborations while emphasizing that the Davao-Jianjiang relations are one of the most important relationships that Davao has.

City Information Office (CIO) Officer-in-Charge Mr. Harvey Lanticse and DCIPC Officer-in-Charge Ms. April Marie Dayap were also present to represent the City Government of Davao.

Also present during the Courtesy Call is the Southeast Asia head of Xiamen Airlines, signaling their intent to resume the Davao-Jinjiang direct flight.

The Courtesy call was followed by the signing of agreements, including the Framework Agreement between Davao City and Jinjiang City for Economic, Trade and Business Development signed by Mayor Duterte and Senior Adviser Zhang, Memorandum of Collaborating and Facilitating the Resumption of Jinjiang-Davao Flight between Xiamen Airlines and Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. signed by Xiamen Airlines Quanzuo Branch General Manager Mr. Hu Bin and DCCCII Executive Vice-President Ms. Belinda Torres; and the Project Cooperation Framework Agreement between Anta and SM signed by Anta Southeast Asia President Mr. Wang Huayou and SCMC President, Mr. Steven Tan.
