Australian Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Hae Kyong Yu, expressed her firm support for the City Government of Davao and Mayor Duterte’s plans and programs during a courtesy meeting with the Mayor on December 9, 2022.

“We are happy to visit Davao City, (it’s my first time here and I will be bringing my husband next time), and happy with our enduring relationship. We have 18 Davao scholars who have finished their studies through scholarship grants. Let us know what we can do to help so our actions will align with your goals. We commit to re-enforce such vision for Davao City,” the Ambassador said.

Mayor Duterte thanked the Ambassador and cited some of the City Government of Davao’s priority issues, such as infrastructure projects, traffic congestion, solid waste management, and peace and security.

Also present during the courtesy call was Vice Mayor J. Melchor B. Quitain, Jr., Councilor Javier Agosto Campos III of the City Council’s Committee on International Relations, DCIPC OIC April Marie C. Dayap, City Information Officer Mr. Harvey Lanticse and Mr. Maximo Macalipes, Jr City Economic Enterprise OIC and Australia scholarship alumnus. It was held at the Davao City Library and Information Center

The meeting was followed by the turnover of books and placemaking furniture by Ambassador Yu to the City Government of Davao through Mayor Duterte and City Library and Information Center (CLIC) Officer-in-Charge Ms. Salome Enoc.
