Marikina City Mayor Marcy Teodoro and Davao City Vice Mayor Bernard Al-ag signed the sister city pact on June 27, 2018.

“Marikina is now developing in various trade areas so we could bring our products in those areas. Here in Luzon, we have shoe caravans  to introduce our products and establish trade and commerce,” Teodoro stated.

He further added that cooperation between cities is the key to a long lasting relationship and continued economic growth.

The partnership between Marikina City and Davao City is strengthened with the many trade activities conducted in Davao.

Among the businesses that Marikina established were the Marikina Pasalubong Center, Marikina Shoe Exchange, and the Marikina Shoe Trade Fair.

In exchange for these initiatives from Marikina, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio established her “PagbaBago” Program where she gave school supplies to 500 children in Marikina City and family planning kits to 500 mothers.
