The progressing City of Davao established its sister city agreement on October 4, 2008, with the thriving city of San Juan.

“It is not just the beauty of Davao that has attracted us but it is the discipline and the way it is run by Mayor Duterte”, former San Juan Mayor JV Ejercito stated.

Both mayors found this unification imperative because helping one another was the key to prosperity. The two share the same vision of modernizing San Juan City and Davao City.

San Juan sought to learn more on the enhancement of security policies from Davao City while the latter studied the rapid economic development of San Juan City.

In 2018, San Juan and Davao initiated the renewal of the sister city pact at the San Juan City Government Center.

 Officials from Davao City and San Juan gathered at the San Juan City Government Center for the renewal of the sister city agreement.
